University of Missouri Statement of Solidarity

To all Black students at Mizzou,

The People’s of African Descent caucus stands with you in solidarity. To those who would threaten your sense of safety, we are watching. We, as members of the Peoples of African Descent caucus from the United States Student Association (USSA), a combined body of Black identifying students who drive justice seeking campaigns on our campuses and are committed to fighting for overall liberation for Black people within our communities, stand in solidarity with Black students at the University of Missouri. Our love and support is being sent to the students who in the name of protest and strike, have placed their academic obligations on hold, all in effort to make a revolutionary stand against the terrorism and racism they have faced on their campus. We would like to honor the resilient Black queer womxn at Mizzou who have been leading the #ConcernedStudents1950, as well as the work done by all Black organizers on your campus. We support your commitment to bringing equity on your campus long before the media’s recognition of the movement surrounding the resignation of the former president of UM began to spread. We support all acts of resistance and protests being done by Black students at the University of Missouri, in efforts to having all their demands met. Your fight has sparked and intensified the work to demand the needs and safety of Black students on college campuses throughout the country. In unshakable power and revolutionary love, we must be relentless in collectively fighting for our freedom. For it is our duty to protect one another, and our duty to win. #ConcernStudents1950 #Mizzou

In struggle and solidarity,

The People of African Descent Caucus

United States Student Association
